Day 5: Ghost Stories... (and museums)

This morning began with a tour of Drury Lane Theatre, which included several ghost stories.  The one about The Grey Man was my favorite - ask a student for more details if you like and see if they were paying attention! :)

We headed to South Kensington for the afternoon where people had 3 options of museums: Natural History, Science, or the Victoria and Albert.  (I went to the V & A.)

Part of the theatre collection is a display of the puppet they use in War Horse, the show we saw earlier this week.

Of course we had to attempt the obligatory: "How many people can you fit in a telephone booth?"

Some of us also visited Harrod's this afternoon, which is a large and famous department store.

After dinner we went for a guided walking tour of Jack The Ripper, a serial killer from the year 1888 who caused the Autumn of Terror...

We are all sad to say good bye to England, our favorite guide Mike, and our new Canadians friends.
We travel home tomorrow!
Cheers

Day 4: Stratford and 39 Steps

 Today we went to Stratford-upon-Avon!

First stop there was Holy Trinity Church
This is where William Shakespeare is buried.

Next we went to Anne Hathaway's house, the childhood home of Shakespeare's wife.

Our last official stop in Stratford was the birthplace and childhood home of Shakespeare himself.

Tonight's dinner was Indian food.  Mmmm...

The show we saw this evening was 39 Steps and most found it absolutely hilarious.
With a cast of only 4 actors playing all 139 roles.

On our Underground journey home, Mike played the Heads Up game with many students. (similar to Taboo or Catchphrase) We were entertaining most of the train with our ridiculous clue giving.

Day 3: The Globe, The Tower, The Rosetta Stone, and more!

We headed towards the south shore for the morning.
First we stopped by the Southwark Cathedral

Next to this cathedral was Borough Market where we had lunch.
I had a few students ask if they could live in that market!  It was quite tasty.

Mike taught a little bit about privateers and the Spanish armada of 1588.

Then we went to the Globe.

The afternoon we split: some to the British Museum and some to the Tower of London.

For dinner we had authentic Fish n' Chips!

In the evening we went on the London Eye, and saw London from a bird's eye view.
